Scouts and other scams (LINK) (PIC)

This forum and others like it serve as a great place for models to learn the real truth behind some of the scout scams and other more unscrupulous operations that play on the hopes and dreams of young girls. But what really scars and bothers me is those models who don't happen to catch the exposé and only hear directly from the scouts through email.

Case in point. I've been emailing and talking with a 19 year old in Jacksonville who is anxious to enter the world of modeling. She's young, tall, slim, beautiful, with all the right attributes to to have some measure of success in the legitimate part of this bussiness. I shot with her this weekend and will have images to show in a couple of days.

But she wrote me about a week ago, she was so excited about this "email offer" she received. She was all ready to jump on board. She forwarded the email to me. Much to my surprise, it turned out to be from the same group of "scouts" that is being talked about below. I don't know if it was the same person or not, but her email was almost word for word what we've read here and other places. I suppose it's a canned spill they send out.

Katie was lucky, as she knew someone with at least a little knowledge of the subject. She's also smart in that she asked me about it before just diving in.

Now Katie knows the truth about such things, she's a little wiser for having asked. But what about all those unsuspecting young girls who have yet to connect with knowledgeable people in this bussiness. Those are the ones I worry about. And those are the ones who make these scouting scams a roaring success for the operaters ONLY, and do little or NOTHING for the young girl with a pretty smile and big dreams and stars in her eyes.

Having spent a little time now with Katie and getting to know her a little, I would feel truly heartbroken had she been taken advantage of. For all those I don't know who ARE taken advantage of, my heart goes out to them.

I just wish there were more that could be done to put a stop to these worthless operations. They are not only stealing, they are trampling on the hopes and desires of young hearts and minds. And THAT, my friends, is what really pisses ME off!!!
