as a mom of a teen model and as a photographer
#1 rule that has been drilled in my head, every minor model MUST have their parent in attendance ...
As a mom, my daughter does not go to a shoot without a parent. PERIOD. if it is a scheduled shoot with a photog she has shot with many times, I may consider sending her with another modelmom, if all parites were agreeable to that, but never to a new photog.
As a photog, I've had occassion, usually during a group thing, where a parent shows up to sign, but leaves their kid in the care of another adult (usually another modeling parent) ... and this was prearranged
Since I started shooting HS Seniors ... WOW ... these kids meet you anywhere, and never have their parents in tow ... they don't seem to see the problem with getting their portraits on their own
You are NOT a babysitter, the parent is there for your protection, otherwise it will be your word against the kid's ... are you sure the kid has their head screwed on straight?
There is always another model around the corner willing to tow along their parent, no minor is worth the risk
Of course, how do you know that "parent" is really the parent, or guardian, and not just the girlfriend of daddy, and mom has custody? (yep, been there, had that one happen this year)
