Thank you for your comments.
Isn't normal for a format the length of a diagonal of the film format size? It is about 162mm for a 4x5 or 101mm x 127mm for 25.4mm in an inch
that is about a 92mm for 6 X 7 or 2¼.

A photo shot wide open on a 4x5 will have less DOF than a image shot at f22 on a 2¼ but format means little. Normal or telephoto means little. The "circle of confusion" is what determines DOF. and perception of focus. It is created by the light rays from from a single point striking the medium seperately or in a "circle of confusion". By coming through the different parts of the lens this occurs. The rays created from the center of the lens are used more exclusively at f22. This reduces the "circles of confusion" and increases the depth of field. I am sure there is more to it but this is photography and not physics. crunch crunch crunch....gurgle...gurgle

I don't guess that from this spot in my sinking thesis I am able to understand. What do these details of physics have to do with my thesis? If you guys find any models that might model for me, please send them to me.Reduce my confusion whether circular or linear.

My picture is of my Dad's 50 model Ford shot with my 4x5. Taking the picture was much easier than helping Dad weld in the panels or sanding the rust. crunch crunch crunch....gurgle...gurgle
