Curtis, you need to think in more depth about the difference between formats. There's lots more than grain.
For instance, a 100mm lens on 35mm is for portraits. On medium format, it's barely longer than "normal." On 4x5, it's wide angle.
That menas wide angle in 4x5 gives you the depth of field that a portrait lens does on 35mm. That can drastically change your perceptions of how you're going to shoot something.
Currently, there are uses for every format still in existence. Each bringa something special.
My personal preference is my S2 at the moment. And I can't wait for the next upgrade.
But it still remains a fact of physics: The sensor/film size DOES matter.
