When it's theft of an image AND unapproved use of somebody's likeness, just go straight to the service provider, with copies of all the efforts at contact. If I remember correctly, that site was on a regional host. They don't like legal issues and will err on the side of caution, thus yanking the plug. Sounds like that's what happened anyway.
