My two cents is that yes, I think most of us have healthy egos or we wouldn't strive to please ourselves and others. The turn off for most people is not ego but arrogance. It just so happens you need to be egotistical to be arrogant but you don't need to be arrogant to have a healthy ego. Consideration for other people is the standard for all to aspire to even though it would normally be a given for most.
