: I think we missed the really important comments below.
: Somebody said we all have big egos.
: And somebody on our side (I think?) agreed!
: Is that true? Does ego reign supreme in the photographic world? Is ego good (like greed)? Or does ego stand in the way of our development into human beings?

Not an easy question to answer at all. My feeling is that the tag is projected on a person by others, and usually not complimentary. It is probably very rare that a person would say in the first person, 'I have a large ego.'

I guess that ones perspective on whether or not a person has a large ego would depend on where you stand. It would be unfair to evaluate a person's character based upon such hyperbole (hype). The very presence of such hyperbole causes me to look at the claim with a jaundiced eye. Usually, the claim is neither complimentary to the the person(s) that it is directed at or to the person delivering the claim.

It would be a big mistake to define ourselves base upon what others think. If or when we do, we need to make sure of the integrity of the individual who is making the claim. The only way that I see to do so is to balance a person's words against a person's deeds.

I don't think that I have answered your question as both the question and the answer are as deep as the rabbit hole.
