"Copywritten" is widely used, mostly by illiterates. The problem arises when otherwise intelligent people hear it repeated and see it written so many times that they assume it must be correct. Even my own entertainment lawyer, who specializes in intellectual property law, and copyrights, once said "copywritten," causing me to seriously reconsider my representation.
There is a word "copywriter," a person who writes copy, and has presumably written copy before, but does not "copywrite" and has not "copywritten," although he may well copyright the copy he writes and may have copyrighted the copy he has written in the past, for which he is issued a copyright.
