Some more attributes. You can not be a "legitimate" Internet
model unless you have:
1) A belly ring.
2) At least one tattoo.
3) A photographer as a manager that puts your images on
OMP and gives his email address as your email address.
Furthermore, the photographer elects not to respond, or
pass on, inquiries that are sent to the email address. The
real purpose, of course, is to let the photographer put his
name next to the model's images -- after all, he gets four,
or five, free images per model using this technique.
4) A propensity for creating an OMP Profile, even if you have
no interest in modeling for anyone.
5) A boyfriend that thinks you are sexy, but doesn't want any
photographer to think that you are sexy unless he pays
either you or him.
6) A propensity for telling photographers that you are interested
in working with them and then failing to follow through for
reasons that are never disclosed.
7) The knowledge that the more skin that is revealed, the more
you are worth as a model.
8) The knowledge that a good Internet model never does lingerie
and nude photos under TFP, no matter how experienced the
photographer and no matter how good is his ability to create
eye catching headshots and fashion shots for your portfolio.
An Internet model must always remember that her skin, even
with the tattoos, is a lot more valuable than any
photographer's time and experience.
9) A propensity for believing Internet photographers when they
tell you that they can find you work as a model.
10) The desire to be on the cover of a magazine, even if it is not
distributed to anyone.
11) The desire to be "showcased"; especially on OMP.
12) A fickle personality that can go off like a firecracker.
And, if you are a young teenager:
13) The willingness to let Internet photographers turn you into a
sex object.
There has been a couple of Investigative programs on Television
that have taken a behind the scenes look at mainstream modeling.
I think it would make an interesting program for one of the
network's investigative programs to take a behind the scenes look
at Internet modeling; the good, the bad, and the ugly. In fact,
the title could be, "Internet modeling; the Good, the Bad, and the
Ugly".
In spite of the above statements, I have worked with a few
Internet models that were honest, upfront, played no games, and
were a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately, those types are
getting to be harder and harder to find on the Internet.
But, even within the "good" category, a small number did not
mention that they had tattoos, they had hair that was brunette for
the first two inches and blonde (or white) thereafter and that
they had gained ten pounds since the photos on their web page were
posted.
Isn't it fun, this hi-tech thing called the "Internet". It has
brought us SPAM, Trojans, computer viruses, computer crashes, the
opportunity to reload the operating system multiple times, the
ability for anyone in the world to put stuff on your computer that
you don't want, the opportunity for scam artist to target millions
at a time, the opportunity for porn pushers to push their wares on
anyone and everyone, the opportunity to spend hundreds of dollars
and hundreds of hours trying to keep others out of your computer,
and Internet Models. Life wouldn't be the same without it.
But, one of these days I am going to get smart and unplug the
modem -- and return to the dark ages -- before we were all
connected to each other.
