Brian, I have been on the Internet Forums for about 10 years.
I hate to say it, but I have come to the conclusion that the
Internet Modeling Scene is mostly just fun and games, played out
by phonies, flakes, ego seekers, opportunists, boyfriends that
want to make money off their girlfriends without sending them into
the strip clubs, "guys with cameras" that want to photograph naked
females (which goes hand-in-hand with boyfriends that want to make
money off their girlfriends), moms that want to relive their youth
through their daughter(s), parents that want to gain fame and
recognition, and perhaps make some money as well, using their
daughter, and so on.
The most recent unpleasant experience was seeing an image of a 14
year old girl with her bottoms (pants) pulled all the way down to
her pubic hair. The image has since been removed from her OMP
Page, but had the name Seth Garcia associated with it. Where were
her parents when the photo was being produced? Do some parents
really believe that it is alright for their 14 year old daughters
to be made into sex objects by some photographer that has no
standards -- and to be photographed in a suggestive, "come and get
me" manner? Apparently so. I am seeing more and more of it on
the Internet.
The legit models have apparently understood the nature of the
Internet Modeling Scene for quite a while. Of the few legit
models I know (the ones represented by legit agencies), not a
single one of them would touch the Internet with a 10 foot pole.
To them, "Internet" is a "dirty word".
It may be possible for a new model to first appear on the Internet
and then move into the legit world of modeling, but it is a very
rare event. For one thing, a female has to have the right
attributes; location, age, personality, attitude, genes, and
stats. That eliminates about 99 percent of the "Internet models"
as candidates for "real world" modeling. A young model also needs
parents that are both supportive and protective. And, the sooner
a model can make the move from the "Internet world" to the "read
world", the better off they will be. Being on the Internet too
long probably does not enhance one's marketability to legit
agencies.
For a real living, focus your time and attention on the real world
and avoid the phony world of "Internet Modeling" with its
obsession with nudity, T&A, inexperienced models that are not the
least bit photogenic being paid (especially if they will take
their clothes off), and at the same time avoid the games that
people like to play. The real world tends to have some order to
it. The Internet world does not. And, it is not just with
modeling. Witness all the scams, spam (even from legit
companies), viruses, Trojans, cookies, spoofing,
misrepresentations of identity and return addresses, and so forth.
See the Internet for what it is and try not to make something else
of it and you will experience less frustration.
