I will add that many of these online talent databases suggest that bookers from real agencies (model and actor) are busy scouring their site(s) searching for new faces.
That is virtually untrue. It's just a come-on to get the talent to fork over the bucks to be listed on their site.
In my experience with casters and bookers here in NY almost nobody uses the net for anything more than e-mailing. Things are mostly done the way they have been done always. Send a headshot or zed card by regular mail and DO NOT CALL and maybe if they can get some precious free time they will look thru 10,000 submissions and pick maybe 50 to see in person. Maybe.
The point is these sites and the net in general attract a very small segment of the talent pool and a rather larger segent of the nut and scammer pool.
There are models, actors, and shooters out there that are making money using the net and God bless them. I wish them the best.
But the net is still not a place where any real number of legitimate jobs eminate from.
Welcome to the Doll House.
