At what point does a model show up and go, hmm... "I have never met this guy face to face, I have no chaperone, this hotel looks promising..."

As the street-wise son of a NY cop, I gotta say, that is just a stupid move on her part. Does not make it less of a tragedy, but DUH!

Crap, if the model does not feel safe, I give her my wallet, with my ID, she can call her family and say "I am with X shooting at X he lives on X street in X city." She can even lock it in her car until we finish. Sometimes the wallet comes back lighter than before...

I am sure you are illustrating a point, but that is an odd co-incidence that the one time she goes to a shoot without a chaperone, AND the other guy happens to be impersonating someone else, AND she gets raped. There is a little more to that story.

The web allows way too much annonymity/impersonation.

NEVER EVER SHOOT WITH ANYONE IN A HOTEL.

I tell all beginning models, never shoot in hotels, outdoors, homes/apart(resided in by the photog) or any 'free' locations.
