: I understand completely. My purpose was simply to tell her what I myself, as a model, would expect--and what I'd consider a scammer. I've asked Arlene Wilson in ATL to provide me names of shooters in the ATL area that they work with to see what they charge for "Arlene's Look" shots, and I've done it with a couple others. I've always been given a couple choices. This is the first thing I'd look for. If the "agency" is directing me to one shooter in particular, than it's likely they don't understand the words, "chemistry" or "sole source liability."

You have hit on my biggest concern in all this. I have always told girls that have told me that they were interested in modeling to be very careful and never trust an agency that forced them to go to a specific photographer, or made them pay for classes, etc. There are always a couple of the "agencies" that I consider to definately be scams setting up for a weekend at the local Holiday Inn and telling all 300 girls that they have just what it takes to be models if they just spend $300 (or whatever) to have some hack shoot a couple of rolls of them in the parking lot.
I've always been very vocal in telling anyone I knew that was interested to stay as far away from that sort of thing as possible. I won't have anyhting to do with an agency that is taking advantage of people that way. I really don't get that feeling from talking to these people on the phone, but one of my questions for them will be specifically what work have they been able to get for their models. That and if they are going to require their models to use me as a photographer. From talking to them it sounded a lot more like they were more trying to find a photographer that was qualified that they could recommend rather than require. they seem most concerned about quality, not somehting I would expect if they were running a scam. (I've seen some of the shots from those weekend hotel photographers and quality is obviously not a requirement.)

Thanks for your input! I will post next week and tell everyone how this turns out. Now I better get back to my real work that pays the bills!

Robin
