I don't entirely agree, Tom. A well-placed photographer can and often does make the career of a fashion model. A David LaChapelle, Steven Meisel, a Patrick or even a Viktor can launch a model's career. (For another example, track how Cindy Crawford got started in Chicago).

But the key is influence over the media. Photographers who have the confidence of editors and clients, who are seen as leading the field, can push models. Editors, art directors and agents can do the same. The fashion world is full of examples.

It doesn't sound like this photographer has that kind of influence. In all probability the things he does will result in some nice publications that can be put into a scrapbook, maybe even into a model's portfolio, but it's not likely it will result in any more than that.
