Actually the term "pictorial" goes back to the beginning of the last century and refers to artistic photography as opposed to photography without artistic intent, ie as snapshots, journalistic, documentary or other 'straight' photos versus iphoto images which are given post shooting treatmentsd, such diffusion, burning in and mdodging, or other classic darkroom manipulations. Pictorialism was later associated with soft focus, hand-manipulated and romantic type subjects.
Part of the early definition was to distinguish artistic photographic images from the ever increasingly popular snapshots. I would consider the attached image to be "pictorial" in the classic sense, though some might well disagree..
