For those who have been around for a while, you might remember Gary Smith, a rather frequent poster on several forums. For quite a while now he has been fighting criminal charges of child pornography. In the past few minutes, I saw a report on an Atlanta news station reporting he was convicted of multiple counts of child pornography. Sentencing is pending, but he faces a maximum sentence of 90 years in the Graybar Hotel.

According to the report, he gained parental permission to shoot underage girls, underage as in age 14, for "model portfolios", often including lingerie. Then with the parents not being present, but with their signed consent/release, he convinced the girls to pose in various sexual poses. No further details were provided.

I recall from earlier news reports that a large part of his defence was based on having parental consent. WRONG! If you are shooting underage kids in lingerie or sexual poses, with or without parental consent, maybe you should watch out?

Understanding how 300 pound bank robbers, prison weight lifters named Bubba and other with "kill" tattooed on their knuckles feel about kids, I'm confident he'll have some 'interesting' years in front of him as a guest of Uncle Sam.

This is (was) one of the guys who brings heat on all legitimate photographers!
