1. The image must be placed on an internet accessible server, this will not be your computer in most cases. If you do not have a web page or storage space accessible from the web, you may want to consider using an image host. That is, a company that will store your image for a fee. One such company is ImageHosting.com. They will store your image for 30 days for 25 cents. There are many other image hosting companies. Most web sites that offer free web space do not allow linking to images on their pages as it uses up their bandwidth while bypassing their ads.
2. Determine the "address" of the stored image. If you have a web page, it will typically be something like www.mypage.com/myimage.jpg. Note that if you enter the "address" into your browser's Location box, it should bring up the image. If it doesn't, you don't have the full or correct address.
3. Copy that "address" into the Optional Image URL box at the bottom of the forum's message entry screen. You are done!
