Christian,
Ya gotta avoid the triple caffeine shots in your Starbucks.
I've always admired your work, and agree with Katharine - you get an audience. And this time, I agree with you on the term. Your shot - nude. Plain and simple.
If I've got what I'm about to say incorrect, please forgive me. What I am commenting about is that you seem to be going back and forth. On one hand you used to state that the online world was not filled with pros who shoot daily earning the real money and the real work. But recently, you've come to the boards more stating that it's filled with unprofessional people. Well - some unprofessional, some less experienced, and some just hobbiests. Some may have skills matching your own, some don't; some might some day, and some never will. But who cares? Most of us do know that, right now, this is not the real world of fashion photography and fashion models. It is quickly becoming the world of glamour models (personally I would define those as softer, usually more revealing and up to Playboy style images).
Would any of these people work with you? Not many. A very small percentage if any, right?
I agree with much of what you've said - "online" agents/managers, boyfriend managers, etc. I don't agree with your take on chaperones. The brick and mortar world is different - as noted, you would have 3-8 people at a shoot. Most of the web based is just a model and the photog. Personally, I encourage models to bring someone with them. If they are not paying for a make up artist, then let them bring someone along. This doesn't happen on every shoot - I've worked with Tomiko (shown here) 11 times. We have a good working relationship and she has recommended me heartily to other people seeking images.
I'm not trying to start anything. I guess I'm just saying "live and let live." Believe me - I go after those that give our community a truly bad name - scammers. But for the inexperienced, or just inept, who cares?
Maybe it's just the holiday....
