QUESTION(s):
If I photograph a published model at an admissioned public event that permits use of cameras, where the model can reasonably expect to encounter, and possibly network with photographers, including myself, in hopes of getting future bookings, and I ask for and receive verbal permission from the model to take photos and the model actually strikes poses and they are not candids in any way, and I decide I like the photo enough to post it on a forum to promote myself, or even just to say "HEY I like this pic I took, do you?", or to exhibit it in my portfolio or use it in a gallery show:
A) Do I need a signed release from the subject?
B) Which state's laws are relevant: Where my "office" is, Where the pic was taken, or in the case of forums, the state of the forum operator, or the forum operators ISP ??
C) Does anyone have a URL for the ACTUAL LAWS on this subject for NEW YORK state?
I look forward to your replies as I have been completely confused by what I have read so far.
Thanks,
SteveD
